Spencer Kiser
Hello there!
I’m an software developer with over 20 years of experience supporting digital transformation and innovation in museums and cultural institutions.
At The Metropolitan Museum of Art I serve as Senior Manager of Application Development, where I lead a team responsible for modernizing metmuseum.org through transition from legacy systems to a modern cloud-based architecture.
In earlier roles at the Met, I helped design and build the ETL pipelines and APIs behind the museum’s collection pages and Open Access, and managed the mobile ecosystem—including The Met App, Audio Guide, and in-gallery interactives.
Before joining the Met, I worked in Digital at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), where I contributed to the development of moma.org the native MoMA Audio+ app, and various experimental gallery experiences.
My background combines field recording and sound design with a long-standing practice in web development. I hold a master’s from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), where I explored how to create commpelling, human-centered experiences using sound, space, and technology.
